šļø Coaching the European Ryder Cup team

Heroes!!
Brian here. š
Are you a golf fan? šļø
If so, my hunch is you watched the Ryder Cup a couple weeks ago.
Hereās a fun (previously Top Secret!) factā¦
Luke Donald and I worked together to help him help potential Ryder Cup players forge antifragile confidence. š¤
The Mission?
To help him and the absolute best European golfers forge antifragile confidence to perform at their absolute best when it mattered most.
In fact, I was honored to kick off their mental toughness training FIFTEEN MONTHS before the first tee shot at Bethpage Black.
I got goosebumps typing that for a range of reasons.
Hereās a fun storyā¦
I took the kids to New York City to cheer Luke and his team on at the Ryder Cup. We stayed in Times Square and ate as much of the Big Apple as we could before and after the tournament.
More on that trip below.
Soā¦
Itās Saturday. We had just gotten back from the Yankees game and a trip to Union Square where Emerson hustled the hustlers in a game of chess. (Watch one of the games below.)
Nowā¦
Weāre in the elevator of our hotel with two Americans who are in despair after Europe absolutely dominated the Americans in the first two days.
One guys says to the otherā¦
āIt seems like the WORSE the crowd gets, the BETTER the Europeans play.ā
I got goosebumps typing that and I got goosebumps when I texted that story to Luke when I got to my room.
THEN I got goosebumps when I watched his press conference the following morning.
You know what Luke said?
Wellā¦
You can watch him drop an āantifragileā bomb 2 minutes into his press conference here.
Note: The whole press conference is a case study in Heroic leadership.
Luke is now considered one of, if not THE (!) greatest Captains in Ryder Cup history.
Iāll tell you Iāve never met a human being more humbly yet FIERCELY committed to doing everything in his power to bring out the best in those he leads.
It has been incredibly inspiring to witness Lukeās leadership.
Note: One guy tied for first for that position is General Bryan P. Fentonāthe four-star General who just retired as the Commander of the United States Special Operations Command.
As it turns out, I took the kids from NYC to Tampa to attend his retirement ceremony. Check out some pictures and videos from that below as well.
Hereās another fun factā¦
After some of the most incredible speeches honoring him and his decades of leadership, you know how the General started his speech?
By sayingā¦
āDay 1. All in. Letās go!ā
I got tears in my eyes typing that and when I heard it. The kids and I sat next to the Generalās former head of security. He elbowed me in the ribs and smiled when he heard the General say that.
Note: Thatās the same guy (whatās up, Joe?!) who starred in the āyouāre alive!ā story I shared during the Heroic Elite launch.
I share all of this becauseā¦
a) Itās pretty awesome. š
Andā¦
b) Itās another REALLY (!!!) powerful reminder that (goosebumps yet again) EVERYTHING we talk about WORKS at THE highest levels of performance imaginableā¦
AND it can work for you too IFāand this is a BIG āIF!!!!āā *YOU* (!!!) work it.
Iāve never been more confident in the work we do together.
And Iāve never been more fiercely committed to doing everything in my power to help YOU (my all-time favorite hero!) close the gap between who youāre capable of being and who youāre actually being as we move from theory to practice to mastery togetherā¦
TODAY.
Letās show up as our best and change the world together.
Day 1. All in.
LETāS GO!

P.S. After our last board meeting, I took a mini-sabbatical and read 101 books in 101 days. Philosopher heaven. š¤ š
Canāt wait to share all the wisdom from that deep dive. New Notes and other such goodness soon.
P.P.S. Here are a few pics from my talk to the European Ryder Cup crew at the Scottish Open last year.
P.P.P.S. Here are some pics of our trip to NYC and Tampa. This was basically my first vacation in a VERY (!!) long time and Mommy got her first 10 days of quiet in 13 yearsāshe had a lot of accrued PTO and I had a LOT of fun being with the kids.
Feeling blessedā¦
